The under-the-radar cost of the Mets’ lingering GM search

The attention, rightfully so, is centered upon the executives who are not joining the Mets. Because of that front-office vacuum, though, there are players who are not joining the Mets, either.

As clubs begin constructing and tinkering with their 40-man rosters, there is a lot of grabbing at loose parts going on around baseball. The Yankees, who like every team had to add players on the 60-day injured list back onto their roster, got raided last week. Exciting outfielder Greg Allen is now on the Pirates, speedy outfielder Tim Locastro is with the Red Sox and Bronx native shortstop Andrew Velazquez is an Angel.

The Cubs added lefty Wade Miley from the Reds. The Giants added a few prospects, including 2013 Orioles first-rounder Hunter Harvey, an unproven but intriguing righty.
