Travis Scott: ‘I’m absolutely devastated’ by Astroworld tragedy

Travis Scott says he is “absolutely devastated” by the deaths that took place at his Astroworld concert festival Friday night, and pledged to support authorities as they investigate the tragedy.

The rapper posted a comment on Twitter about 14 hours after eight people were killed and more than 300 injured in what authorities initially labeled a stampede at the first night of the two-day festival at NRG Park in Scott’s native Houston.

“I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night,” the statement said. “My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”

Scott continued to perform while the tragedy unfolded, even when he apparently noticed an ambulance in the crowd. The event producers, LiveNation, have gotten slammed for what appeared to witnesses to be unprepared, poorly trained and ill-equipped medics on site.

The singer kept clear of those issues in his statement as the investigation on what happened moves forward.

“Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life,” his statement said.

“I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need,” he continued. “Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love You All.”
