Several hurt after knife attack on German train

A knife-wielding rider went on a rampage aboard an express train in Germany, slashing and injuring several people, police said.

One man has been arrested in connection with the early Saturday attack, which occurred on one of Germany’s high-speed ICE trains at a station in the southern municipality of Seubersdorf.

At least three people were seriously hurt, according to reports.

The train was traveling between the Bavarian cities of Regensburg and Nuremberg when the attack unfolded around 9 a.m., according to the Associated Press.

Train travel between both cities was suspended pending an investigation.

Roughly 200 people were escorted from the train and taken to a local restaurant for refreshments, according to a German broadcaster, Bayerischer Rundfunk.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said it’s still unclear what lead to the “terrible” attack, according to the Associated Press.

He added that residents of Seubersdorf, which is about 294 miles south of Berlin, faced no “acute danger.”

“I hope that those injured and those who witnessed this will recover quickly and completely,” Seehofer said.
