It’s not your typical runway.
Legendary Christy Turlington Burns is just one of the boldface names running in the NYC Marathon on Sunday. She’ll be joined by her daughter Grace, 18, for the first time.
Grace started running during the pandemic, her mother told The Post, and “surprised” her when she announced she planned to run the marathon a few months ago. While it’s her daughter’s first-ever marathon, the 52-year-old fashion icon is looking forward to her ninth 26.2-mile trek, 10 years after her first NYC Marathon.
The two haven’t been training together, however, mostly due to Grace’s college applications and varsity volleyball responsibilities.
“She recently turned 18 and wanted to celebrate with a new challenge,” said Burns, who is running on behalf of Every Mother Counts, her organization that looks to make childbirth and pregnancy safe for women.
Burns started the organization after experiencing a postpartum complication following Grace’s birth.
“Running marathons has been one of the ways we educate the public about the challenges women and birthing people face here in the United States and around the world,” said Burns, who referenced the greater risk of pregnancy and birth-related complications among Black and Indigenous women.
“Getting back out there together is going to be incredibly special for the city and help us get closer to achieving our mission to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere.”
Another star racer is ABC News correspondent Will Reeve, son of Dana and late “Superman” star Christopher Reeve, who is running on behalf of the Reeve Foundation. The organization looks to aid research and help people living with paralysis.
His father, known for his disability rights activism, became paralyzed after a horse-riding accident in 1995. The newsman has passed his $52,000 fundraising goal, set in honor of his dad, who died at 52-years-old.
Reeve last ran in 2016, his first NYC Marathon, where he hit the “wall” toward the last leg of the race.
“But I was so energized and inspired by the people along the course, also people like my parents and [in] the spinal cord injury community,” Reeve told The Post.”That’s what pushed me across the finish line.”
“This time around my training has been smarter and I know that on race day, I’m going to start out slower,” he said. “This time I’ve got my running plan better set up.”
The Burns family and Reeve will join a cast of celebrities on the course as it winds through the five boroughs, including first-time marathoners Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, Tony Award-winning actress Kelli O’Hara and Eleven Madison Park chef Daniel Humm.
