A hospital electrician in England pleaded guilty Thursday to killing then sexually assaulting two women decades ago — and also committing dozens of other sex attacks on female corpses in mortuaries where he worked.
David Fuller, 67, admitted to the sickening offenses after changing pleas just four days into his trial for the 1987 separate slayings of 25-year-old Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce, 20, in Kent.
“I have never come across anything like it — the numbers, the nature of offending — and I don’t know anybody who has, be they police or other prosecutors,” said Senior CPS prosecutor Libby Clark.
“This was a man with a very, very dark secret.”
Fuller was only arrested for the murders last December in the wake of a DNA breakthrough.
Police investigating the grisly homicides then found at Fuller’s home recordings of him carrying out the necrophilia crimes at two mortuaries.
Before his trial, Fuller copped to 51 other offenses, including 44 charges relating to 78 identified victims in mortuaries.
In court this week, prosecutors said he sexually assaulted at least 99 dead women and girls between 2008 and 2020.
Fuller’s victims included minors and other women older than 85.
Following the disturbing revelations, Health Secretary Sajid Javid has asked the health sector to review mortuary and post-mortem access.
Home Secretary Priti Patel called the case “shocking.”
“The sickening nature of the crimes committed will understandably cause public revulsion and concern,” she added.
