Trump urges ‘MAGA’ voters to back Youngkin, says ‘everything is on the line’

Former President Donald Trump called on “every MAGA voter” in Virginia to get behind Republican Glenn Youngkin’s bid to defeat Democrat Terry McAuliffe in Tuesday’s gubernatorial election, warning, “Everything is on the line.”

”Hopefully everyone will get out and VOTE tomorrow for Glenn Youngkin, who will be a fantastic Governor for the Great State of Virginia. Glenn is a very successful businessman who knows how to make Virginia’s economy (which is doing poorly!), great—and he has had my Complete and Total Endorsement for many months!,” Trump said in a statement sent via email on Monday.

The former president noted Youngkin’s support for parents in Virginia who are opposed to the teaching of critical race theory in the state’s schools, an issue that may be propelling the Republican candidate’s recent rise in the polls.

”Glenn believes in FREEDOM, including freedom for parents who want a good education for their children. He is also a strong believer in our now under siege Second Amendment, and loves our Military and our Vets,” the 45th president said.

He ended his statement endorsing Youngkin with a dire caveat.

“Everything is on the line in this election, and every MAGA voter should strongly support Glenn Youngkin. We must win bigger than the margin of fraud by flooding the polls with those that believe in America First. Please vote on Tuesday for Glenn Youngkin — he will not let you down!,” Trump said.

Trump, who reportedly plans to hold a tele-rally for the Republican candidate Monday evening, told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro in an interview on Saturday that his supporters are the key to Youngkin knocking off McAuliffe, who served as governor from 2014 to 2018.

”My base has to turn out. If my base turns out, he is going to win and I hope they turn out. I really want them to turn out,” Trump said on “Justice with Judge Jeanine.”

Pirro pointed out that McAuliffe and Democrats are painting Youngkin as an “acolyte” of Trump, hoping to turn off voters in a state President Biden won by 10 percentage points in 2020.

”Well, I think it backfires because I think that gets the base to come out and vote by doing that. By hooking me with him, as much, and I know him a little bit, but I really know him as a good person,” the former president said.
