Halsey’s NBA announcing aspirations get an ESPN endorsement

Last year, pop singer-songwriter Halsey created a Twitter account for the sole purpose of weighing in on the NBA, frequently covering her fanhood of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The recording artist tweeted on Sunday, presumably in jest, that she was considering quitting music to pursue her true calling: announcing NBA games at ESPN.

The network seems into it:

One would guess that ESPN would consider bringing Halsey in for an in-game celebrity segment at some point. The network could also dabble in featuring her commentary as part of a side-cast at some point, possibly for a Lakers playoff game or something of the sort.

The @halseyandone account took a hiatus between June and October, but the singer announced she was back with a literal plus one — baby Ender Riley, whom she and boyfriend, the screenwriter Alev Aydin, had in July.

Halsey had the revelation about her NBA announcer aspirations after she skipped out on Halloween revelry to sit courtside at Staples Center for the Lakers’ win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday:

Halsey, 27, won the “Favorite Pop/Rock Song” category at the American Music Awards in 2019 for her song “Without Me”. Her Collaboration with The Chainsmokers on their song “Closer” won three Billboard Music Awards and was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2017 Grammy’s.
