The husband of late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, the woman shot dead with a prop gun fired by Alec Baldwin on the set of “Rust,” has expressed the family’s pain in wake of the tragedy.
“Halyna inspired us all with her passion and vision, and her legacy is too meaningful to encapsulate in words,” Matt Hutchins wrote Friday night on Twitter.
“Our loss is enormous, and we ask that the media please respect my family’s privacy as we process our grief. We thank everyone for sharing images and stories of her life.”
He posted the Tweet with a picture of his wife with a young boy, presumably their 9-year-old son, in a bucolic setting in a shallow creek lined by large trees.
Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was wounded after Baldwin aimed and fired a prop gun at them during filming of the movie in New Mexico.
Matt Hutchins told The Post Friday that Baldwin has been in touch with the family and has been “very supportive.”
“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” Baldwin posted to Twitter on Friday.
The husband thanked the American Film Institute Saturday morning via Twitter for setting up a scholarship in his wife’s honor to help female cinematographers.
“Anyone seeking to honor her memory, please direct your giving to this fund,” his Tweet read.
And a GoFundMe page for her has already collected at least $100,000.
