This is the ‘world’s most dangerous sex position,’ viral doctor warns
With cooler nights now upon us, many couples may be tempted to heat things up in the bedroom.
But there’s one sex position men may want to avoid, given that a doctor is going viral for claiming it’s responsible for a whopping 50% of penis fractures.
UK-based surgeon Dr. Karan Raj — who boasts 4.3 million followers on TikTok — says that the “reverse cowgirl” is the “world’s most dangerous sex position” because a man’s penis can slip out and be crushed by his partner’s pubic bone during erratic thrusting.
In a viral video that has already racked up more than 2.1 million views, Raj explains that a penis is technically boneless, but the word “fracture” is used to describe a tear in the tunica albuginea — a piece of tissue that allows the penis to become enlarged and erect.
Men who tear their tunica albuginea are usually required to undergo surgery to have the tear stitched up. Those who fail to do so are usually left with erectile dysfunction and a permanent curvature of their private part.
Raj, who previously went viral with COVID-19 prevention tips, even claimed a penis fracture can cause a man’s penis to swell up and look a little like an eggplant.
The doctor’s TikTok fans were left disappointed by the news, with several sexed-up commenters revealing reverse cowgirl was their “favorite.”
However, others were left so scarred by the educational video that they vowed to no longer have sex in the raunchy position.
“My husband is now scared to come near me because of that!” one viewer humorously wrote.
Meanwhile, one man even claimed his penis had fractured while he was having reverse cowgirl sex because he and his partner were not thrusting in sync.
“I heard it crack!” the male confessed about his member.
However, reverse cowgirl enthusiasts may not need to be quite so concerned given that Raj’s claims are contradicted by a 2017 study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research.
That study did not name the reverse cowgirl among the most dangerous sex positions.
Instead, it declared doggy style as the position most common for causing penile fractures — accounting for 41% of all cases.
In at second was missionary, with the man on top, causing 25% of penile fractures — followed, in third place, by the woman on top.
Penile fractures usually tear the tunica albuginea horizontally, but back in July, the British Medical Journal revealed the first documented case of a vertical penile fracture, which was sustained by a 40-year-old man during sexual intercourse.
The study did not declare what position the man was in, but it was reported that his “penis buckled against his partner’s perineum” — the region between the anus and genitals — due to an ill-timed thrust.
Subsequent MRI scans showed that the man’s penis had a 1-inch (3-centimeter) vertical tear — rather than the more common horizontal variety.
Despite the unconventional nature of the fracture, surgeons were forced to treat the patient’s mangled manhood within 24 hours to prevent complications.
Meanwhile, in 2019, a randy man snapped his member clean in half while getting jiggy with his girlfriend.
“It went up to the size of a bottle of wine. It was beyond my control and scared me to death,” the man said of his swollen member.
Thankfully, he, too, underwent successful surgery and fully recovered without incident.
