Stranger shoves woman into side of oncoming train at Times Square subway station

A stranger shoved a straphanger into the side of an approaching train in Times Square during rush hour Monday morning, authorities said. 

The victim was standing on the northbound platform of the Times Square – 42nd Street station in Manhattan just after 8 a.m. when her female attacker shoved her for no apparent reason into the side of an oncoming northbound No. 3 train, according to police and the MTA.

The MTA says that there was no prior relationship between the victim and attacker. The attacker fled from police and is still at large. Matthew McDermott

The victim — who did not fall onto the tracks — was taken to Mount Sinai West hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to cops and the FDNY.

The two women did not know each other, and it appeared the incident was unprovoked, cops said. 

The suspect, who cops say appeared to be in her 30s, was last seen wearing black sneakers, beige pants, a black sweater and a multicolored scarf. She fled after the assault

In a late morning tweet, the NYPD’s Transit Bureau said a suspect was in custody.
