Gerrit Cole is making $36 million a year for the Yankees through 2028. He’s going to have a ton of crucial starts in September and October in his time with the team. Wednesday night was a true test for him in Toronto in a pivotal game…and he failed. Cole gave up five runs and despite the offense coming back for him, it wasn’t enough. Their ace is going to need to be better next time out, because it could be in the one-game playoff. Will the Yankees hold on and get a chance to play a game for a spot in the ALDS?
