Listen to Episode 91 of ‘Pinstripe Pod’: Will Yankees Get a Wild Card Spot? feat. Ken Davidoff

USA Today Sports

Gerrit Cole is making $36 million a year for the Yankees through 2028. He’s going to have a ton of crucial starts in September and October in his time with the team. Wednesday night was a true test for him in Toronto in a pivotal game…and he failed. Cole gave up five runs and despite the offense coming back for him, it wasn’t enough. Their ace is going to need to be better next time out, because it could be in the one-game playoff. Will the Yankees hold on and get a chance to play a game for a spot in the ALDS?

To talk about Cole and the Yankees’ push for a wild-card spot, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Yankees great Jeff Nelson and Chris Shearn, featuring a chat with The Post’s Ken Davidoff.

Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:

  • COLE: He didn’t show up Wednesday when the Yankees needed him most. Nellie felt like Cole was going to cry in the postgame presser. No crying in baseball. Is Cole a guy you want on the mound when you need to win?
  • PLAYOFF PUSH: Nellie tells a story of his Mariners playoff push in 1995. Can the Yankees hold on and get into the postseason?
