62-year-old woman slashed by stranger in NYC subway station

A 62-year-old woman was slashed by a stranger in an unprovoked attack in a Manhattan subway station on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The victim was attacked by the male suspect while riding the escalator at the Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street subway station at about 1:45 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The brute slashed the woman in the leg and fled into a northbound 6 train, cops said.

The woman was treated by EMS at the scene, authorities said.

Police said the subway attacker was still on the loose as of Thursday night.
