Woman sexually assaulted in NYC park, nephew comes to the rescue

A creep sexually assaulted and pummeled a woman in a Bronx park this week — prompting her nephew to come to her rescue, cops said Tuesday morning.

The suspect approached the 53-year-old woman inside the Soundview Park playground at Boynton and Lafayette avenues around 9:10 p.m. Sunday and yanked her by the hair, causing her to fall to the ground, authorities said.

Then he allegedly sat on top of her, covered her mouth, pressed on her neck and touched her body over her clothing, cops said.

When the victim screamed, her attacker repeatedly punched her in the face, police said.

During the struggle, the victim’s 25-year-old nephew heard her scream and came to her rescue, grabbing the assailant, police said.

But the suspect managed to break free from the nephew’s grasp and ran westbound through the park, cops said. He was last seen walking west on Bruckner Boulevard.

The victim suffered a minor cut on her lips and redness on her neck.

EMS rushed her to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

Cops released surveillance footage of the suspect, who is described as about 6 feet 2 and 150 pounds with a dark complexion, thin build and short, close-cut dark hair.

He was last seen wearing a gray du-rag, dark shirt, pants and sneakers, police said.
