Judge hands Trevor Bauer major win in sexual assault case

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled in favor of Trevor Bauer on Thursday, denying a restraining order to a woman who said the star Dodgers pitcher choked her into unconsciousness and punched her repeatedly during two sexual encounters.

Following a four-day hearing, Judge Dianna Gould-Saltman determined Bauer did not pose a threat to the San Diego woman and that her injuries were not the result of anything she verbally objected to, according to ESPN.

Bauer has maintained that everything that happened during the two encounters this spring was consensual.

And so the 27-year-old woman’s temporary restraining order against the 30-year-old reigning NL Cy Young winner was dismissed and will not be extended to up to five years, the judge ruled.

It was not immediately clear what Thursday’s ruling means for Bauer’s baseball future.

MLB placed Bauer on paid administrative leave on July 2 as the league investigated the sexual assault allegations made by the woman, identified as “Ms. Hill” in court.

The Pasadena Police Department is also investigating the allegations against Bauer. No charges or arrests have been made in the case.
