After eight years and six separate lawsuits, it’s time for “That 70’s Show” alum Danny Masterton to pay the bill on his Hollywood Hills mansion — but instead, he’s putting it on the market.
The Scientologist, accused of multiple counts of rape, lost an unrelated lawsuit against his mortgage holders on August 10, leaving him on the hook for $1.995 million owed on the house near Scientology’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre.
Less than a week after the judgment, he put the five-bedroom, four-bathroom LA pad once owned by Chuck Berry up for sale, asking $6.995 million, Scientology expert Tony Ortega first reported.
The lawsuit was the latest in a string of claims that he didn’t need to pay a mortgage on his Hollywood Hills house due to “fatally flawed” paperwork based on “false information,” and was actually owed $5 million in damages, according to the order to dismiss by California Judge Dean D. Pregerson.
Masterson, who lives in another house in Santa Ynez and rented out the 5,500-square-foot Hollywood Hills property, purchased the home for $2.995 million in 2007 with a $1.995 million 30-year mortgage — about a $9,000-per-month payment.
“Plaintiffs appear to be merely throwing arguments up against the wall with the hope that they can formulate some basis for canceling their mortgage loan without full repayment,” wrote attorney Douglas Stastny of the Severson & Werson’s Orange County Office in a motion to dismiss the case.
The sale would not interrupt or impact Materson’s $3.3 million bond arrangement, which is keeping him out of jail as he awaits a November trial that could result in up to 45 years in prison, The Post learned.
The 1923-built home with an arched colonnade entrance and gothic lancet windows once housed rock legend Chuck Berry, according to the listing.
The primary bedroom suite has a bathroom, a sitting room, a wrap-around patio and a walk-in closet, according to the listing.
The private, gated 0.65-acre lot in Bronson Canyon has a recording studio, an “ozone pool” (an alternative to traditional chlorine pools, offering softer-feeling water) a sport court and a guest house, according to the listing.
Masterson and his 41-year-old wife Bijou Phillips live in Santa Ynez. The 45-year-old former Netflix’s “The Ranch” actor pled not guilty to rape in three incidents dating back to the early 2000s. He has also faced allegations from at least two other women.
Masterson, who was featured on Leah Remini’s Scientology series, is a Scientologist, which has complicated the trial due to an arbitration agreement with the Church of Scientology.
Listing broker Lauren Reichenberg of Compass did not respond to a request for comment. Masterson’s legal team, who did not represent him in the mortgage-related litigation (he represented himself), declined to comment.
