Yankees star Aaron Judge belts 2 homers into ‘Field of Dreams’ cornfield

Aaron Judge just had his own “Field of Dreams” moment. Two of them, actually, but it wasn’t enough.

The Yankees star right fielder blasted a three-run homer well over the right-field wall in the third inning. He followed that up with a two-run shot to dead-center in a four-run ninth that gave the Yankees a temporary lead before Zack Britton gave up a two-run homer to Tim Anderson in a crushing 9-8 loss to the White Sox on Thursday night in Dyersville, Iowa.

Judge’s first homer gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead, but the White Sox bounced back with four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-3 lead on the strength of an Eloy Jimenez homer to right.

Judge wasn’t the first player to hit a home run at MLB’s iconic new field. Chicago’s Jose Abreu belted a solo shot to left field in the first inning.

Judge, who has 25 homers and 59 RBI this season, said Wednesday he was looking forward to playing at the modern-day “Field of Dreams.”

“It’s kind of a dream come true,” he said over Zoom on Wednesday, following a 5-2, series-clinching victory over the Royals. “You never think you’ll get a chance to play at the Field of Dreams. But getting this opportunity, the chance to walk through the corn, it’s going to be a big moment, a special moment.”

Now, he has two special moments, but not a special win.
