Boris Johnson and wife Carrie expecting second baby amid miscarriage grief

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie are expecting their second child, she announced Saturday in a social media post that revealed a previously undisclosed pregnancy loss.

“Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas,” she wrote in a private Instagram post shared with 5,200 followers — using a term widely used for a pregnancy that follows a stillbirth or miscarriage.

“At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken,” Johnson, 33, continued.

“Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well,” she added — slamming the very service she had used to share her news.

The nuptials came 13 months after the birth of their son, Wilfred. The prime minister has four children with his former wife and at least one other child from a previous relationship.
