Pelicans’ Jaxson Hayes reportedly arrested, injured in fight with cops

New Orleans Pelicans big man Jaxson Hayes was arrested early Wednesday following an alleged domestic dispute and violent skirmish with cops at a California home, according to a report.

Hayes, 21, allegedly tried to keep cops from entering the Los Angeles-area residence when they responded to investigate the call, leading to a fight between the 6-foot-11, 220-pound center-forward and officers, TMZ reported.

Hayes was hit with a Taser during the ensuing melee, which got so heated at one point that cops reportedly put out an “officer needs help” radio call.

Hayes, who was selected 8th overall by the Pelicans in the 2019 NBA Draft, was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. The officer involved also sought medical treatment, but their condition was unknown, TMZ reported.

Hayes was expected to be charged with felony battery on a police officer. The alleged domestic dispute that sent cops to the home remained under investigation — although both parties had thus far been uncooperative, according to the report.

A message seeking comment from Pelicans team officials by The Post was not immediately returned Wednesday.

The team reportedly released a statement hours later indicating they were aware of the report, but were working with NBA officials and Hayes’ reps to “gather more information” on the incident.
