‘Bridgerton’ hunk Regé-Jean Page cast in Paramount film ‘The Saint’

Fans who are disappointed that heartthrob Regé-Jean Page isn’t returning for the second season of “Bridgerton” can rejoice now that he’s been cast in an upcoming Paramount film — a reimagined version of “The Saint” crime novellas.

Page, 31, is set to star as Simon Templar and will also serve as executive producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Representatives for Paramount and Page did not immediately return requests for comment from The Post.

The film will tell the story of Templar, who is known as “The Saint,” during his travels as a professional thief. When he is hired to commit a crime, hijinks ensue. It will be loosely based on the British comedic mystery series “The Saint,” first written by Leslie Charteris in 1928.

The story had been adapted several times on screen, with stars Hugh Sinclair and Val Kilmer portraying the role of Templar in film and Roger Moore in the lead for a 1960s British TV show.

This is one of several major roles that Page has been cast in after ending his reign as the dreamy duke Simon Bassett in Netflix’s “Bridgerton.” According to The Wrap, he recently wrapped up filming for “Dungeons & Dragons,” also produced by Paramount Pictures, as well as the Netflix action-thriller “The Gray Man,” alongside Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

Page only recently became a breakout star after appearing as the main love interest in Shonda Rhimes’ steamy period show “Bridgerton,” which garnered more than 82 million views and became the streaming service’s most-watched series in the company’s history, reported The Wrap.

The film will be produced by veterans Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Brad Krevoy, with the late Robert Evans also getting a producer credit. British actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah, who worked on Amazon Prime’s “Marked Man” and the historical mini-series “The Undergound,” is writing the script.

If all goes well, the almost 100-year-old book series could lead to a franchise with multiple film installments starring Page.
