Two teens busted in slaying of 16-year-old Bronx gangbanger: sources

Two teens have been busted for fatally shooting a 16-year-old Bronx gang member amid a bloody turf war — with the suspects nailed after boasting online about the slay, cops and sources said Sunday.

The pair of alleged murderous gangbangers, ages 15 and 19, are accused of hopping on a scooter with a red wheel and gunning down Ramon Gil-Medrano in Mount Hope on July 11 in a retaliatory hit for the slaying of a 13-year-old rival gang member hours earlier, according to sources and a criminal complaint Sunday.

The 13-year-old kid was killed in retaliation for the gang-related murder of a 19-year-old man five days earlier, law-enforcement sources have told The Post.

16-year-old Ramon Gil-Medrano was a member of the 800 YGz, or “Young Gunnaz” gang.

According to a police source Sunday, the teens arrested in Gil-Medrano’s death made it easy for cops to find them.

“They’re bragging about it on social media,” the source said. “That’s why they got caught.”

The 15-year-old suspect, identified in court records as Alec McFarlane, was arrested in Queens shortly before 6:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police sources told The Post.

Fewer than two hours later, police busted Mehki Williams, 19, in The Bronx and accused him of being an accomplice in Gil-Medrano’s death, sources said.

Williams was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree gang assault, first- and second-degree conspiracy, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, police said.

Williams has two prior arrests, including a gun charge from earlier this month, and McFarlane had a loaded-gun bust in January and a marijuana charge dating to August 2019, both sealed cases, sources said.

According to a Bronx court affidavit, Williams was driving the scooter with a gun-toting McFarlane behind him when they zipped up to the scene on East 178th Street shortly before midnight. A few minutes earlier, McFarlane had allegedly been seen on surveillance video walking into a store to buy masks.

McFarlane allegedly opened fire on Gil-Medrano in the street before they sped off. The victim was getting out of a cab at the time, the affidavit said. Police later found five .9 mm shell casings at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured and called the police after the shooting.

Cops are still looking for two other teens, ages 16 and 19, who were on a second scooter and allegedly also opened fire on Gil-Medrano, sources said.

About four hours before Gil-Medrano’s death, the two scooters were involved in another drive-by shooting around East Harlem River Drive Park in The Bronx, when they opened fire on a group of about a half-dozen people, the affidavit said.

Williams was arraigned Sunday and ordered held without bail. McFarlane was arraigned late Saturday and is due in youth courtMonday, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office said.
