MLB extends Trevor Bauer’s leave again amid sexual assault allegations

Trevor Bauer won’t be returning to the mound any time soon as MLB continues to investigate sexual assault allegations against the Dodgers ace. 

MLB and MLBPA on Wednesday agreed to extend the righty’s paid administrative leave by nearly two weeks to July 27, according to reports.

Bauer’s leave will now run through his scheduled July 23 hearing for a domestic violence restraining order, filed by a woman who accused Bauer of sexually assaulting her earlier this year in Pasadena, Calif. 

Bauer is currently under investigation by the MLB and the Pasadena Police Department for the alleged incident, which his agents have maintained he “vehemently denies.” 

The league and players association initially placed Bauer on a seven-day administrative leave on July 2, a day after the assault allegations surfaced. That leave has now been extended three times.

While on leave, Bauer receives around $1.5 million per week from the Dodgers, who signed the reigning National League Cy Young award winner to a three-year, $102 million contract in the offseason. 

During Bauer’s absence, the Dodgers have conspicuously separated themselves from the star pitcher. The franchise recently cancelled a Bauer bobblehead night, originally scheduled for August 19, and have also pulled Bauer merchandise from its stores.
