The number of COVID-19 deaths in New York has hit a nine-month low, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.
Two people died from the virus Friday, both Brooklyn residents, Cuomo said. That is the lowest daily fatality count since Sept. 20, 2020.
Of the 79,184 COVID-19 tests results that came back Friday, 410 — or 0.52 percent — were positive. There were 340 New Yorkers hospitalized with the virus Friday.
The number of New Yorkers 18 and older who have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine is 72.4 percent, Cuomo said citing federal data. And 65.6 percent have completed the vaccine series.
The state has administered 21,287,701 vaccine doses.
