Woman dead, two injured after SUV cuts off van on NYC’s Belt Parkway: cops

A 21-year-old woman is dead and two men were hurt after an SUV apparently cut off an Access-A-Ride van on the Belt Parkway, and both vehicles lost control, police said.

The deadly accident occurred around 9:50 a.m. Saturday along the westbound Belt Parkway at Pennsylvania Avenue, cop sources said.

Police said the woman was a passenger in a Chevy Red Trailblazer that lost control as the male driver tried to change lanes, cutting off a 2019 Ford Access-A-Ride van in the process, according to a preliminary investigation. The Trailblazer is believed to have eventually hit a guardrail, ejecting the woman from the vehicle, cops said.

The victim, identified as Perrion Thompson of Jamaica, Queens, suffered severe head and body trauma, and was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital, authorities said.

The Access-A-Ride van swerved to avoid the Trailblazer, hit an embankment and overturned, leaving the 60-year-old driver with minor injuries, the NYPD said.
