Mets vs. Yankees prediction: All signs point to the Under

The New York Yankees have had a tough 2021 season thus far compared to expectations, but have received solid production from Jordan Montgomery this season at Yankee Stadium and will look to stick it to the New York Mets on Saturday.

Montgomery has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his past five home starts, all of which resulted in Yankees victories. He surrendered two home runs in 29 ¹/₃ innings and registered a 2.45 ERA in this stretch.

The Mets will send out Taijuan Walker, who has battled injuries this season, but nevertheless has posted a 2.38 ERA and allowed two earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 14 starts. He also has surrendered just five home runs in 79 ¹/₃ innings and opponents have hit .201 against him.

Both teams’ bullpens have performed well this season. The Yankees rank fifth in the MLB in bullpen ERA, while the Mets are 14th. The Mets have a better ERA the past 30 days than the Yankees and will enter the series with the league’s best overall starters’ ERA.

Both offenses are ranked in the bottom 10 of the league in runs per game and both enter the series in the top five in percentage of their games that have been played under the total this season, so runs will be scarce in The Bronx on Saturday afternoon.
