Joe Kelly wore mariachi jacket he traded for to Dodgers’ White House visit

Talk about a flashy trade before the deadline.

Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly acquired Mariachi Garibaldi trumpeter Grover Castro’s custom jacket in exchange for his jersey – and then wore it to the White House for the Dodgers’ visit Friday.

During Viva Los Dodgers, a joyous celebration at Dodger Stadium Sunday afternoon, Mariachi Garibaldi was the musical guest. The group was brought on the field by pitcher Kenley Jansen, where Kelly negotiated the jacket deal with Castro.

Later in the evening, the goods were exchanged, but it did not end there.

Kelly — who became known for greeting the Astros with a viral sad face last year after the franchise’s notorious cheating scandal — wore his mariachi jacket to the White House during the Dodgers’ championship visit Friday. It showcased Kelly’s eccentric personality and was a special moment from the historic day.
