‘Stranger Things: The Experience’ coming to NYC

New Yorkers can soon experience the mystical Indiana of “Stranger Things” for themselves.

An “adventure experience” intended to immerse fans in the world of the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things” is coming to New York and San Francisco in spring 2022, the streaming giant announced Tuesday.

The participatory event, which follows 2020’s sold-out “Stranger Things” drive-in experience in Los Angeles, will let ticket holders attempt to escape from the notorious parallel universe of the Upside Down, explore various re-created “Stranger Things” locations and buy exclusive show merchandise. Explorable locales will include the show’s Scoops Ahoy sundae parlor and Palace Arcade, complete with a playable “MADMAX” game. Demogorgons will haunt guests throughout, the release notes, and there will be a heavy pour of the same 1980s nostalgia, supernatural mystery and darkly magical reimagining of Indiana that makes the show so beloved.

“We know our ‘Stranger Things’ fans will embrace the chance to be the heroes of the story, working alongside Eleven, Mike and the rest of the gang to escape the evil threatening to consume Hawkins,” said Netflix’s head of experiences Greg Lombardo.

The Netflix exhibit is in collaboration with event platform Fever, which also collaborated with the streaming service for the 2020 drive-in event.

Tickets will be released Thursday, July 8, and start at $54. In the meantime, fans can sign up for a waiting list. An Instagram profile for the exhibit has already racked up over 60,000 followers.

“Step into the thrilling world of Hawkins, interact with its residents, snap a photo at your favorite locations, and grab a tasty treat all while fighting off Demogorgons and other ferocious monsters,” promises the caption on the single photo currently on the account.

A premiere date has not yet been announced for the show’s fourth season, although a teaser trailer for it dropped in May.
