Clippers now fearing the worst with Kawhi Leonard injury

Kawhi Leonard’s knee injury may be more serious than the Clippers initially thought.

After suffering a right knee injury in the Clippers’ 118-104 Game 4 win over the Jazz on Monday, Los Angeles now fears Leonard might have an ACL injury, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic initially reported that Leonard suffered a sprained right knee and would be out indefinitely.

Leonard, following the late game injury, reportedly told his teammates that he would miss Game 5 on Wednesday, despite being absent from the Clippers’ injury report Tuesday.

The NBA champion injured his right knee on a late drive in Game 4 . He stayed in the game for a brief time before he exited for good.

After the game, Leonard told reporters, “I’m good,” before adding, “Next question.”

Leonard was named first team All-NBA on Tuesday.

Game 5 of the Clippers-Jazz series, which is even at 2-2, is scheduled for Wednesday night in Utah at 10 p.m., followed by Game 6 on Friday. If needed, the teams will battle it out in a Game 7 on Sunday.

Leonard’s injury news came on the same day it was reported that Suns star Chris Paul entered the NBA’s health and safety protocol ahead of the Western Conference Finals —as well as major coaching news in New Orleans and Washington D.C.
