Mike Krzyzewski’s Duke retirement tour is off to a bizarre start

The Coach K retirement tour is off to an interesting start.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski’s press conference announcing next year will be his last season with the Blue Devils started with “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada blasting – and Krzyzewski making his way to the lectern by dancing in front of reporters, friends and family members at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The clip of the song, typically played at Duke games, quickly went viral on social media.

The 75-year-old Krzyzewski said his decision to step down had nothing to do with the changing landscape of college sports, where players can now transfer once without having to sit out and may soon be able to make money off their name, image and likeness.

“Mickie and I decided the journey is gonna be over in a year,” he said, referring to his wife. “And we’re gonna go after it as hard as we possibly can.”

Krzyzewski has reached 12 Final Fours and won five national championships at Duke. His successor will be former player and current assistant coach Jon Scheyer.
