Boise State vs. Memphis odds, prediction: Points will be at premium

The top remaining team in the NIT in offensive efficiency, Boise State, will be taking on the team giving up the second-fewest points per possession in the country Memphis on Thursday night.

Memphis has given up 72 points or fewer in 15 of its past 17 games despite playing at a relatively fast pace. The Tigers rank 66th out of 347 teams to play Division I basketball this season in possessions per game.

Boise State has not shot the same way from 3-point range in road and neutral-site games compared to their accuracy at home. The Broncos make 38.8 percent of their outside shots at home and just 32.2 percent away from Boise. Memphis is allowing opponents to shoot just 26.1 percent from 3-point range when away from home, tied with Colgate for the nation’s best mark.

Memphis is shooting 60.1 percent at the free-throw line in road and neutral-site games, the 10th-worst percentage in the country, with just one of the Tigers’ top six scorers shooting better than 69 percent from the line for the season.

With Memphis turning the ball over on 21.7 percent of its possessions, which is 318th in the country, and both teams allowing opponents to rebound just 21.9 percent of their missed shots, points figure to be at a premium in Texas on Thursday.

The play: Boise State-Memphis total, Under 143.
