23-month-old girl killed in house fire on Long Island, cops say
A baby girl was killed in a Long Island house fire early Wednesday, local authorities said.
Majesty Gerald, who was 23 months old, was inside the home on Maple Lane in Gordon Heights, Suffolk County, with eight other members of her extended family, when the blaze broke out just after 3 a.m., according to Suffolk County Police.

After the blaze was extinguished, Majesty was discovered inside the home. She was pronounced dead on scene.
A 4-year-old girl, 34-year-old woman, 57-year-old man and a member of the Medford Fire Department were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

The remaining five family members were unharmed, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was not criminal in nature, police said.
