Jenn Sterger, reporter at center of Brett Favre sexting scandal, speaks on Jared Porter

More than a decade after Brett Favre was accused of sending inappropriate texts to a female game-day host with the Jets, the Mets fired GM Jared Porter on Tuesday morning due to another sexting scandal.

Jennifer Decker, known as Jenn Sterger when she worked for the Jets, reacted on Twitter after the ESPN report first surfaced alleging Porter had sent explicit messages and photos to a female reporter in 2016.

“This is why I go back & talk to sports media classes… about REAL issues,” Decker tweeted early Tuesday, a few hours before Mets owner Steve Cohen announced Porter’s firing. “To make sure they know they don’t have to suffer in silence. That together we are unstoppable & that WE belong here. They DESERVE the future I’m still fighting for, minus the pain it took to get here.”

Decker, who is married to former MLB player Cody Decker, claimed in 2010 that she had received lewd voicemails and texts from Favre during his one season with the Jets in 2008. Favre was fined $50,000 for “failure to cooperate” with an NFL investigation into the matter.

“Sports radio.. sports television.. if you have a panel of all men talking heads discussing this Porter stuff tomorrow on your shows… you’re part of the problem,” Decker tweeted. “Sincerely, women everywhere.”

Decker and her husband currently host a podcast titled “Swings and Mrs.” on the Radio.com app.

“All snark and deflection aside, women in sports media… sports fans… if stuff you read tonight triggers you, you’re not alone,” Jennifer Decker tweeted. “Just remember, your voice can make sure it’s a better future for those to come. & it’s never too late to take back your story.”
