Instagram influencer Alexis Sharkey’s husband denies marriage rift

The husband of Instagram influencer Alexis Sharkey, whose naked corpse was found on the side of a road in Houston, said his wife was “stressed” and “wasn’t happy” but denied there was a problem in their marriage.

“She wasn’t happy. She was stressed. I would cuddle her to try to make her strong. She was an amazing woman,” Tom Sharkey, 49, told Houston channel KTRK-TV on Tuesday.

The widower said he’s “just destroyed” over the loss of his wife, whose body was discovered Saturday morning, less than 24 hours after she went missing.

The 26-year-old — a self-described mentor who boasted 21,000 followers on Instagram — left her home following an argument sometime Friday evening and wasn’t heard from again, her mother has said.

“We didn’t fight when she left,” Tom said. “I just told her she couldn’t drive under the influence … She left anyhow. This is where we’re at.”

Friends of Alexis have said she and Tom, whom she married last year, were having issues and that she was in the process of filing for divorce.

But Tom denied a rift with his wife, telling the outlet, “There’s always other sides to everything.”

“I don’t need to set the record straight,” he said. “I’ll let it play out the way it is. I know what my life was with my wife.”

Tom also told the station he has been receiving death threats.

“It’s horrible. People are talking tons of crap,” he said, adding, “I’m getting death threats and stuff.”

The distraught man claimed that “everybody was still looking for [Alexis]” when he went to the coroner’s office Sunday morning to identify her body.

Though she was found on Saturday — less than three miles from her home — authorities “couldn’t ID my wife. They didn’t know who she was. She was just there,” he told KTRK-TV.

Tom said he’s been cooperating with homicide detectives and that he’s turned over all of his wife’s messages, emails and phone calls.

He said he feels confident the Houston Police Department is “going to find everyone that was involved.”
