Kentucky police officer arrested after firing shots at deputy

An off-duty police officer was arrested in Kentucky for firing shots at a local sheriff’s deputy, authorities said.

Jessie Pollitt, 28, a Maysville police officer, opened fire on a Fleming County Sheriff’s Office deputy responding to a domestic disturbance at a home Sunday morning, news station WKYT reported.

When the deputy made contact with him, Pollitt fired a weapon at the officer and others in the area, according to state police.

No one was injured by the gunfire, authorities said.

Pollitt was arrested on charges of attempted murder of a police officer, making terroristic threats, domestic violence, wanton endangerment and resisting arrest.

He was taken to Mason County Detention Center, where he is being held on $50,000 bail, according to court records.
