Seton Hall vs. Baylor canceled after Scott Drew’s positive COVID-19 test

Seton Hall is still planning to make its trip to Louisville after getting out of quarantine on Monday, but it won’t be facing second-ranked Baylor on Sunday now because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sunday showdown is off now, as The Post first reported on Tuesday, after the two sides agreed it was in the best interest of both programs not to play the game. On Sunday, Baylor coach coach Scott Drew tested positive for the virus on Friday, but the team was still planning to play in the Empire Classic this week at Mohegan Sun since nobody else from the program had tested positive, opting not to follow the NCAA guideline that a team shuts down for two weeks after a positive test. But after Arizona State reportedly refused to play them, Baylor pulled out of the tournament.

Big East doctors would not sign off on Seton Hall facing Baylor, a source said, since the league is following the two-week guideline. The game was part of the first annual Big 12/Big East battle.

Seton Hall, meanwhile, came out of quarantine on Monday following a two-week pause due to positive COVID-19 tests and had its first full practice on Tuesday. The team is planning to practice again on Wednesday before flying out to Louisville that night to face the Cardinals.

There is a chance Seton Hall could add a game in the Louisville multi-team event while there, since its next game isn’t scheduled until the following Wednesday at Rhode Island, a source said.
