Listen to Episode 45 of ‘Gang’s All Here’: New Play-Caller, Same Old Jets feat. Anthony Becht

Gang's All Here Episode 45 Jets podcast
N.Y. Post: Charles Wenzelberg

There were many Jets fans that had more alcoholic beverages Sunday than the Jets did yards in the second half. The Jets had four yards in the second half, losing 18-10 to the Bills, falling to an abysmal 0-7 on this nightmare 2020 season. Silver lining? It was the only Jets loss by one possession. They had the ball with a chance to tie the game, but Sam Darnold turned the ball over yet again. To break down the latest loss in a season full of them, Brian Costello and I bring you a brand new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast.

We open with the abysmal second half. We discuss the decision to have Dowell Loggains call the plays instead of Adam Gase. It looked to have made a difference for a bit in the first half, but things went back to normal in the second half. We break down a horrid decision by Darnold when he threw the interception in the final minute of the first half, leading to a Bills field goal. We discuss the offensive line playing poorly, Chris Herndon and the tight ends doing nothing, the Jets defense holding the Bills to six field goals but still giving up a ton of yards and how ugly it can get against Le’Veon Bell and the Chiefs. I took Dr. Coz’s advice and enjoyed some alcohol Sunday to cope with the Jets’ ineptitude. I also treated myself to some glorious french onion soup and a monster-size soft pretzel.

Former Jets tight end Anthony Becht then joins the show. Becht hosts a few podcasts now, including a Jets pod, a Bucs pod and one with Dan Graca on sports. He also is a pre and postgame Jets analyst on their social media channels. Becht is tremendous breaking down the NFL and college football. Becht opens the chat talking about the Jets loss Sunday, not being able to move the chains in the second half, Darnold and the offense not having everyone on the field and how mind blowing the lack of production from tight ends is. Becht gets into the tough road ahead, the Chiefs matchup and why he believes Darnold can be the guy if he has the pieces around him. Becht makes the point that Trevor Lawrence has the best talent around him at Clemson and is going up against bad defenses. He then gets into his career, when Herm Edwards came in for Al Groh and what kind of difference it made for the team. He ultimately points to talent on the field being the major reason those Jets teams made the playoffs. Becht gets into the success Todd Bowles is having with the Bucs and why signing Antonio Brown is a big mistake by them.
