Joe Rogan taps out on suggestion he should referee Trump-Biden debate

Even Joe Rogan doesn’t want any part of moderating a debate between President Trump and his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, after Tuesday’s contest turned into a free-for-all, with the candidates yelling over each other and swapping personal insults.

The host of the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” quickly bowed out of contention when people online, including Trump, suggested he referee a debate.

“You don’t need me to handle this ‘debate,’ you need @johnmccarthymma,” Rogan wrote on Instagram, referring to Big John McCarthy, a mixed martial arts fighter and referee-turned-broadcaster.

McCarthy also turned down the possible political gig.

“Watching old men who really can’t fight……. Fight??? Oh that would be ugly,” he posted on Twitter.

Speculation over drafting another moderator gained steam after critics savaged Fox News’ Chris Wallace’s handling of the debate and his seeming inability to get Biden and Trump to stick to their speaking time limits and to stop shouting over each other.

Tyler Cardon, CEO of conservative Blaze Media, floated Rogan’s name.

“Regardless who you’re pulling for, I think we can all agree that Joe Rogan would do a much better job moderating this thing than Chris Wallace. #Debates2020,” he wrote on Twitter.

Trump, who sparred with Wallace during the debate, retweeted Cardon.

During a discussion on his podcast, retired MMA fighter Tim Kennedy and Rogan were talking about the election when Rogan said he would be up for hosting a debate between the two candidates and laid out the conditions for how it would go.

“First of all, I want no one else in the room, just the three of us, and you’d have to stream it live so no one can edit it, and I would want them in there for hours,” Rogan said.

“If they wanted to do that — they both wanted to come here in Austin, sit down and have a debate — I would 100% do it,” he continued.
