Man killed in early morning West Village street fight: cops

An East New York man out celebrating a birthday died after becoming embroiled in an early morning street fight in the West Village, police and family said.

Dashawn Bush, 36, of Pitkin Avenue, was found unconscious on the ground in front of 82 Christopher St. and was later pronounced dead at Lenox Health Complex, police said.

“We are taking it pretty hard,” Dashawn’s heartbroken sister, Tamara, 31, told The Post Saturday afternoon.

The birthday bash with a female pal was spoiled, Tamara said, after Bush “had an encounter with another person, who was a friend.”

She said there was a fight but believed “there was no visible marks on him. We don’t know if he had a heart attack or hit his head or broke his neck. We have no clue.”

“We don’t know why two friends were fighting like that,” she added.

Bush worked as a sorter for Amazon in Brooklyn and he’d been on the job for about “two or three months,” his sister said.

A 911 caller reported an assault at the Christopher Street spot around 4:20 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they discovered Dashawn, unconscious. His attacker has not been arrested.
