Trump cancels Miami golf resort fundraiser as Tropical Storm Isaias nears Florida

President Trump has been forced to cancel a fundraiser at his Doral golf resort this weekend as a tropical storm bears down on the Florida coast, according to multiple reports.

The president had planned to host the event at his Trump National Doral Miami resort on Saturday but scrapped the plans on Thursday afternoon due to Tropical Storm Isaias, a Republican National Committee spokesperson confirmed.

According to a report by the Miami Herald, Trump is still expected to attend a fundraiser in Tampa on Friday evening.

The campaign was offering tickets to the Tampa and Doral events for $5,600, according to the Herald report. Access to a roundtable discussion with the president fetched $100,000.

The news will come as a blow to the president, who was forced to cancel his plans to hold a roaring Republican National Convention in Jacksonville, Florida — a state which is being ravaged by the coronavirus.

Instead, Trump is expected to accept the nomination later this month at a scaled-back affair in Charlotte, North Carolina, which was the originally intended location for the convention.
