Mets vs. Red Sox prediction: Steven Matz will stymie Boston

Astros and Dodgers almost came to blows Tuesday after L.A.’s Joe Kelly threw at Alex Bregman then Carlos Correa. Astros are sure to lead the league in hit-by-pitches after their cheating scandal. That said who would you most like to see suit up for Houston this year? A-Rod, Lance Armstrong or Bill Belichick?

Expectations are low for Bostonians. Mookie-less Red Sox are not expected to compete at the top of the East and are “paahked” in last place after a week. They’re at Citi Field on Thursday. Martin Perez was acquired in the offseason and he allowed the Orioles to score five runs in five innings in a lackluster debut. Perez went 10-7 last year for the Twins and should settle into his role as a solid starter. Steven Matz is still a Met after trade rumors had him going everywhere but Buffalo. Strong debut for Matz, surrendering one run over six innings to the Braves then getting a no-decision in the 5-3 loss. He’s never faced the Red Sox. This is a good time to get acquainted. 20 units on the Mets.

The A’s scored a run in the first inning but never scored again as the Rockies won 5-1. German Marquez went six strong to get the W. Back-to-back losses have us at +98 joerudis.
