DJ LeMahieu is back in time for Opening Day.
He’s not in the starting lineup, but the Yankees put LeMahieu on their roster Thursday prior to their scheduled season-opener against the Nationals in Washington, D.C. Tyler Wade is starting at second base.
LeMahieu missed the start of spring training 2.0 after testing positive for COVID-19 as part of MLB’s intake testing and he remained quarantined in Michigan before reporting to The Bronx. He had been on the COVID-19 injured list.
In other roster news, the Yankees also recalled INF Thairo Estrada and right-handers Michael King and Ben Heller from their alternate site in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
