Fans say Netflix’s ‘Dark Desire’ is hot enough to wash out ‘365 Days’

“Dark Desire” is being hyped as Netflix’s steamiest title yet.

The series, debuting on the streaming giant after a successful run as “Oscuro Deseo” in Mexico, follows Alma (Maite Perroni) a lawyer and college professor who is also a mother married to a judge. On a weekend trip with a girlfriend, she has an illicit weekend of passion with Darío (Alejandro Speitzer), a 23-year-old younger man.

She returns home to her family, seeking to put it behind her and move on. But of course, her secret tryst doesn’t stay under wraps for long and soon causes a world of complications and trouble.

The drama includes scenes of “wrestling” and nude murder, lots of shower sequences, and even a sexy interlude in a car repair shop. One sequence involves a dream where her husband Leonardo (Jorge Poza) catches her having another dalliance with Darío in the pool and pulls a gun on them.

Leonardo himself is also having an affair with Edith (Paulina Matos), his assistant.

Newfound fans are already freaking out on social media.

“I don’t know why I started watching that #DarkDesire in the middle of the night — it’s 365 Days all over again! Some very passionate wrestling in there,” one worked up fan wrote on Twitter.

“OMG episode one has the antidote to the 365 Days shower scene,” posted another.

The 18-episode drama has been compared to the infamously raunchy Polish film “365 Days,” which is about Laura Biel (Anna-Maria Sieklucka), a woman who goes on vacation and gets kidnapped by mafia boss Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone). It includes BDSM and voyeurism kink scenes, and has garnered controversy for romanticizing a relationship between captor and victim. Singer Duffy went so far as to post online that the series “glamorizes rape.”

“Dark Desire” is currently streaming on Netflix.
