1-year-old boy dead after being shot at NYC cookout

The 1-year-old boy who was shot in the stomach during a cookout at a Brooklyn park has died of his injuries, cops confirmed Monday.

The baby, in addition to three men, was shot around 11:35 p.m. Sunday in front of Raymond Bush Playground at Madison Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police sources said.

As many as three suspects drove up in a dark SUV and parked in front of the victims. They hopped out of the vehicle and opened fire, sources said.

The baby was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was initially expected to survive. He was pronounced dead just after 2:30 a.m., according to sources.

His name was not immediately released by police.

The three men, ages 27, 35 and 36, were also hospitalized and expected to survive, sources and police said. They were shot in the ankle, groin and leg, respectively.

The shooting came amid a recent surge in gunplay across the city.

Also on Sunday night, two boys, ages 12 and 15, were wounded in separate shootings in Brooklyn and Harlem.
