Mets lay off 25 employees

The Mets are among the teams to have recently cut staff.

An industry source confirmed Tuesday that the team last week laid off 25 employees, most of whom worked in business operations.

In June, the team instituted pay cuts to the entire staff that will last through the remainder of the season.

The Mets previously committed to paying their minor leaguers through the end of August. Players currently not on the 40-man roster will continue to earn their $400 weekly stipend for the rest of the summer.
