South Dakota woman admits to stomping 5-year-old boy to death: cops

A South Dakota woman allegedly admitted to kicking and stomping a 5-year-old boy to death in a disturbing attack, according to police who arrested her.

Julia Lee Carter, 21, first called cops on Monday morning to report the child wasn’t breathing as she rushed to an emergency room at Peace Hospital in Mitchell — where the tot was pronounced dead, the Mitchell Police Department said in a statement.

But an autopsy later revealed that the boy suffered from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, and Carter allegedly confessed to kicking him five times in the stomach and stomping on his abdomen, according to the statement, which was posted on Facebook.

Carter, who lived with the child, was charged with first-degree manslaughter and abuse or cruelty to a minor, cops announced Wednesday.

Her relationship to the 5-year-old and what may have prompted the attack wasn’t clear. Police didn’t immediately return the Post’s request for comment Thursday.
