Oregon man faces 3,300-year sentence for allegedly raping girl

An Oregon man faces a 3,300-year sentence for allegedly raping a girl more than a hundred times, beginning when she was 6 years old, according to reports.

David McCutcheon, 39, of Cottage Grove, was arrested last week on 70 counts of rape, 40 counts of sodomy and 110 counts of criminal mistreatment stemming from the depraved crimes, KOMO News reported.

Cottage Grove police launched an investigation into McCutcheon on May 26 after detectives in Eugene referred the case to them.

McCutcheon admitted during a police interview to sexually abusing the girl — crimes which occurred over the course of several years, KOMO News reported. He was arrested the following day.

Under state law, McCutcheon could be sentenced to 1,750 years behind bars if convicted on all 70 charges of first-degree rape, KOMO News reported.

He then faces up to 1,000 years on the sodomy charges, while the criminal mistreatment counts could add another 550 years, MetroUK reported.

The district attorney still has to review the case for formal charges, the outlets reported.

McCutcheon is being held in the Lane County Jail and is set to appear in court July 16, the outlets reported.
