Pro BMX rider Ryan Guettler arrested for firing shotgun naked in North Carolina

New York City’s Naked Cowboy may have some competition in the form of a BMX rider.

Two-time X Games medalist Ryan Guettler was taken into police custody Wednesday afternoon after firing a gun outside a North Carolina home while naked.

The Wilmington Police Department said officers responded to a report of a naked man shooting a shotgun. Police said Guettler ran into the garage and refused to come out when officers arrived. WPD SWAT and negotiators later arrived and were able to get him out safely, transporting him to a medical center for assessment.

Guettler, 36, was charged with discharging a firearm at an occupied dwelling, felony breaking and/or entering, going armed to the terror of the people, simple assault and a city ordinance violation.

He was given a $100,000 secured bond.

The Australian won bronze medals at the 2004 and 2005 X Games.
