This cold case really heated up.
A 46-year-old man who allegedly got away with a murderous arson more than a decade ago was busted Thursday after setting a series of rubbish fires in Queens, authorities said.
Luis Ventura was arrested on June 3 after authorities linked the firebug to a number of trash blazes over the last few weeks near Highland Avenue, Parsons Boulevard, Hillside Avenue and the Van Wyck Expressway in central Queens, according to the FDNY.
Once in custody, authorities connected Ventura to a cold case from Dec. 17, 2006, when firefighters battled a blaze in the lobby of 2185 Grand Concourse.
The inferno injured 10 people, and one of them died from their injuries a month later.
Ventura is facing charges of murder, arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, according to the FDNY.
“This arrest is an example of outstanding coordination between our Fire Marshals and the NYPD,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said. “I commend all involved for their efforts to arrest a dangerous individual whose actions led to a death of an innocent New Yorker 14 years ago.”
