Seattle police accused of macing child during George Floyd protest

A Seattle police officer was accused of macing a child at a George Floyd protest over the weekend, prompting authorities to launch an investigation, according to reports.

Footage showed the young girl coughing and screaming as bystanders rush to pour milk and water on her during Saturday’s demonstrations.

Evan Hreha, who filmed the aftermath, said witnesses saw a cop allegedly spraying the girl with Mace, Storyful reported.

In the clip, protesters are then seen confronting officers about the child and demanding their badge numbers.

“Seattle police maced a child. Then refused to give his badge number,” activist Zellie Imani wrote on Twitter.

Police wouldn’t confirm the identity of the cop accused of macing the girl but said they’re investigating the incident, BuzzFeed reported.

“Uses of force, including pepper spray, during the demonstrations will undergo a high level of scrutiny and review by the chain of command,” police spokesperson Kelsey Nyland told the outlet. “This incident in particular has been referred to the [Office of Police Accountability] and an investigation has commenced.”
