Man put knife to bank employee’s neck during Queens robbery: cops

A masked bank robber put a knife to a manager’s neck after a teller brushed off his demands for cash, police said Tuesday.

The blade-wielding man walked into the Valley National Bank on Liberty Avenue in South Richmond Hill around 2 p.m. Monday, handed the teller a manila envelope and said, “Put all the money in the envelope,” police sources said.

“What money,” the teller responded, according to cops.

The robber then walked up to the bank’s manager, placed the knife against his neck and again demanded the teller hand over the cash.

This time, the teller complied, placing about $2,300 in the envelope and handing it to the robber, cops said.

“That was pretty bold of the employee,” a police source said of the teller’s attempt to refuse to hand anything over. “It was like a street robbery.”

The robber fled with the cash. Police didn’t immediately release a photo.
