Michigan man shot after proposed sex meetup turned out to be robbery: cops

A Michigan man was shot and robbed by a couple during a proposed meetup for sex he arranged online, police said.

Daniel Alexander Wargo, 21, and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Summer Louise Desjardin, were arraigned Wednesday on charges including armed robbery after a 22-year-old Warren man was found shot in the torso at his home late Sunday, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer told the Detroit Free Press.

Desjardin had earlier met the victim on Facebook, where they arranged for her to come to his home for sex, Dwyer said.

Once Desjardin got inside the residence, Wargo entered the man’s home while armed with a handgun and announced a robbery. Wargo shot the victim after he refused to cooperate, police said.

It’s unclear what was stolen from the man’s home, but Wargo and Desjardin fled in a Chevrolet Cavalier, the Macomb Daily reports.

The victim was in stable condition Wednesday at a hospital in Detroit, police told the newspaper.

Detectives managed to identify Desjardin as a suspect via social media, where they located her phone number and tracked it to a location in Wayne. The pair were arrested inside the Cavalier on Monday, according to the Macomb Daily.

A judge on Wednesday set bond at $1 million for Wargo, who was also charged with counts including assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He absconded from parole in March after serving prison time for second-degree home invasion, according to Department of Corrections records.

Bail for Desjardin was set at $251,520. She and Wargo remained in custody early Thursday at the Macomb County Jail, records show.
